Muhammad University of Islam was established in 1934 by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad in the city of Detroit, Michigan, and re-established in 1989 in Chicago, Illinois by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. Education Is The Key Learning Center (EKLC), an Official MUI Affiliate School, was inspired by
The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan's vision
of a New Educational Paradigm.
EKLC is a private institution of learning, servicing preschool through eighth grade students. EKLC receives no government funding and maintains its operations through tuition, donations, and fundraising efforts by parents and patrons of the school.
“Education is supposed to be the proper cultivation of the gifts and talents of the individual through the acquisition of knowledge. Knowledge satisfies our natural thirst for gaining that which will make us one with our Maker. So true education cultivates the person - mind, body and spirit - by bringing us closer to fulfilling our purpose for being, which is to reflect Allah (God)."
The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan
EKLC opened its doors in 2008 to a small number of students with a desire to teach the knowledge of self and the true and living God. Within our humble edifice, we are cultivating future leaders, businessmen, engineers, doctors, teachers, etc. Everything we do starts with Allah (God).
